Tokyo, Japan – May 19, 2024 – We, the Malaysian Students' Association Japan (MSAJ), extend our warmest greetings to the 71 Malaysian Government Sponsored Students arriving in Japan for their academic pursuits in various national universities in Japan. As representatives of the Malaysian community in Japan, we are delighted to welcome you to this vibrant and culturally rich nation.

On behalf of MSAJ, Regional Leader Kanto, Muhammad Haziq Mohammad Supian, and Vice Treasurer, Muhammad Aliff Mohd Azrin, were present at Narita International  Airport to greet the new students on their arrival. Several representatives from various associations, including the Embassy of Malaysia in Japan represented by En Imran Yussof, also joined them in extending this heartfelt welcome.

New Malaysian Students in Japan Eager to Learn and Embrace Culture

Several first-year Malaysian government-sponsored students arriving in Japan shared their excitement and anticipation for their academic journey.

Iman Zahin Saiful Hasley, from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, expressed his enthusiasm, "I'm thrilled to begin my studies in Japan and immerse myself in its rich culture. Coming here is an amazing opportunity, and I'm ready to embrace the adjustments that come with living in a new country."

Adam Najmi, who will be studying at The University of Electro-Communications, echoed this sentiment. "While I know there will be challenges adapting to new customs and classroom etiquette, I believe embracing cultural differences and being adaptable will be key to a successful and enriching experience."

Mohammed Irfan Daniel went beyond academics, sharing, "I'm eager to explore everything Japan has to offer, from its historical traditions to its vibrant cities. Building friendships with the local community is important to me, but I also look forward to connecting with other international students."

Encouraging Words from the Embassy

En Imran Yussof, representing the Embassy of Malaysia in Japan, offered words of encouragement to the new students. "This is an exciting time for you, filled with academic opportunities and personal growth," he said. "Japan offers a wealth of knowledge and experiences to enrich your lives. Remember, you represent yourselves and Malaysia here. Embrace the challenges, work hard, and be responsible students. However, if you encounter any difficulties, never hesitate to reach out to the Embassy or your fellow Malaysian seniors for support. We are here to guide you on your successful journey in Japan."

Understanding the challenges of settling into a new country, MSAJ has compiled a comprehensive guidebook specifically tailored to support first-year students. This valuable resource, available online at https://msaj.my/, offers guidance on navigating academics, daily life, and cultural nuances in Japan.

MSAJ is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and supportive community for all Malaysian students in Japan. We offer a multitude of resources and events throughout the year to help students integrate seamlessly into Japanese society while maintaining their Malaysian heritage.

Additionally, we look forward to welcoming another 33 students embarking on their academic journeys at various National Institutes of Technology across Japan on 1st April 2024 and supporting them throughout their academic journey in Japan.
